Stars of Alberta Volunteer Awards

Culture and Community Spirit honours individuals who are nominated by community organizations and fellow community members for their extraordinary volunteer contributions through the Stars of Alberta Volunteer Awards (formerly known as Stars of the Millennium Volunteer Awards).

Anyone whose volunteer efforts have played a significant role during the person's lifetime and is a current resident of Alberta is eligible to receive an award. Six awards are presented annually, two in each of three categories of youth, adult and senior.

As part of a ten-year initiative, recipients of the Stars of Alberta Volunteer Awards will be inducted into Alberta's Volunteer Wall of Fame located in the Pedway Mall of Government Centre in Edmonton (10820 - 98 Avenue). The Volunteer Wall of Fame was unveiled on December 5, 2001 as a lasting legacy to 2001 International Year of Volunteers.

The Stars of Alberta Volunteer Awards Program and Volunteer Wall of Fame Initiative are an integral part of government's commitment to Alberta's volunteer sector. Seeking out ways to pay tribute to volunteers is part of the Government of Alberta's way of acknowledging and thanking our volunteers whose generous efforts contribute to the vibrant quality of life Albertans so enjoy.
