Serving Communities Internship Program
The Government of Alberta, through the department of Advanced Education and Technology, and Volunteer Alberta have teamed up to help post-secondary students find new opportunities to enhance their learning, develop critical leadership skills and assist in paying for their post-secondary education.
It’s called the Serving Communities Internship Program (SciP) and it already has the strong support of student groups from all 26 publicly funded post-secondary institutions and much of Alberta’s non-profit/voluntary sector organizations.
Beginning in September, post-secondary students will have the opportunity to apply for one of the 500 internships to be made available in the province’s nonprofit/voluntary sector.
After completing their defined internship goals, students will receive a $1,000 bursary from the Government of Alberta. The bursary aims to assist students in paying the costs associated with obtaining a post-secondary education.
