Standards and Guidelines

The Historical Resources Act requires owners of designated historic resources to notify the Minister of Culture and Tourism of any proposed alterations to resources. Consult with heritage conservation advisers prior to proposing alterations.

Approval of alteration is dependent on the alteration not compromising historical integrity of the building or the site. All conservation work must be undertaken in compliance with the Standards and Guidelines for the Conservation of Historic Places in Canada. This external link will open in a new window
