Education Fund Advisory Committee
It is the responsibility of the Human Rights, Citizenship and Multiculturalism Education Fund Advisory Committee to provide the Minister of Culture and Community Spirit with advice on the use of the Education Fund.
The committee is chaired by a member of the legislative assembly. The vice-chair of the committee is the Chief Commissioner of the Alberta Human Rights and Citizenship Commission. There are also five community members who are appointed based on their knowledge and expertise in the areas of human rights, diversity and multiculturalism. Members from throughout the province and with a diversity of backgrounds and experience are recruited. Appointments are for a three year term.
A major activity of the advisory committee is to review grant applications and make recommendations to the Minister. The advisory committee also provides the Minister advice on the overall use of the fund.
