Partnerships

The Board Development Program is located within Alberta Culture. Since its inception, the Government of Alberta has provided the Program with its core funding.

The Board Development Program has been able to deliver board governance training to thousands of boards over the past 30 years in large part because we have had the active support of a number of partners.

Volunteer Instructors

The key to our ability to deliver current and relevant training to not-for-profit boards is the corps of Volunteer Instructors who actually conduct the workshops. At any point in time we have an "unpaid staff" of approximately 55 volunteers.

Since the program began in 1983 we have trained over 500 instructors!

Grant MacEwan University

Staff from Grant MacEwan University has been a partner with the BDP since it was formed. Staff at the University assisted in the development of training materials as well as print resources. MacEwan University has co-copyright on the BDP's training materials.

Resource Centre for Voluntary Organizations

The Resource Centre for Voluntary Organizations (RCVO)@Volunteer Alberta provides a retail outlet for our Board Development workbooks.

Volunteer Calgary

Volunteer Calgary aslo provides a retail outlet for Board Development workbooks and graciously make their offices available for the interview portion of our annual recruitment drive in Calgary.

The Muttart Foundation

The generous support of the Muttart Foundation allowed the Board Development Program to grow in the mid-1990's. The support of the Muttart Foundation allowed the BDP to develop and print the Board Development Workbooks.
