The Arts Branch
The Arts Branch of Alberta Culture is responsible for administering programs supporting Alberta’s arts and culture scene and contributing to The Spirit of Alberta, Alberta’s cultural policy.
The Arts Branch seeks to inspire enthusiasm for arts and culture, provide opportunities and support for the continued development of Alberta’s artists and arts organizations, and better enable Albertans to make informed choices about arts and culture in their lives.
Programs managed by the Arts Branch include the:
Alberta Foundation for the Arts: As the primary arts resource and grant funding body in Alberta, the Alberta Foundation for the Arts helps to unleash the potential of every artist through funding, arts promotion, artist development, the sharing of Alberta's art collections and capacity-building services.
Alberta Film Classification: Alberta Film Classification is responsible for rating films before they are shown to the public. Our mandate is to assist Albertans in making informed and responsible film choices.
Alberta Multimedia Development Fund: The Alberta Multimedia Development Fund (AMDF) offers grant programming for screen-based media production, book publishing, magazine publishing and sound recording.
The Arts Branch provides support and professional development information to artists, facilitates access to grants through the Alberta Foundation for the Arts, and conducts research about the value and importance of the arts.
