Alberta Historical Resources Foundation
The Alberta Historical Resources Foundation (AHRF) was established in 1973 through the Historical Resources Act to promote public awareness and enjoyment of Alberta's heritage.
Reporting to the Minister of Culture and Community Services, AHRF has an appointed Board of Directors consisting of individuals from different regions of the province. AHRF receives professional, technical and administrative support from the Historic Resources Management Branch of the ministry.
With an allocation from the Alberta Lottery Fund, AHRF is the Government of Alberta's primary window for heritage preservation funding. It provides financial and technical assistance to individuals and organizations for initiatives that preserve and interpret Alberta's heritage through a variety of grants offered by the Heritage Preservation Partnership Program; and to municipalities through the Alberta Main Street Program and the Municipal Heritage Partnership Program. It also provides funding to several provincial heritage organizations and the Provincial Heritage Markers Program.
